When I'm pressing mugs with a large area of white (so a single image on a white mug say) I'm getting loads of weird little bits pressed into the white bits of the mug. They look so bad, I can't sell them and I have some big orders coming up.....any ideas? Full wrap mugs that cover the whole area always seem to be fine.....I'm at a loss. I wipe all my mugs down before sticking the image on but 90% of them are coming out with bits on. They almost look like little hairs or dust thats being pressed into the mug. I can't think of anything to get around this myself. Does anyone else get this?

Sounds like some dodgy paper to me. Full wrap images will soak up any rubbish on (or in) the paper which is why you're not noticing it on full wrap mugs. What paper are you using?

Are you using a complete piece of paper to cover the area that is not being sublimated ? if not it may be old ink coming from the heating element, just a thought.

Yep, I'm using a complete piece of paper (I tried it without as well and it still did the same thing) and I'm using Trupix paper with sawgrass inks.

I guess it is possible that you have a faulty batch of mugs, if you do not have a spare mug from a different batch or manufacturer to try it might be worth a call to your supplier to see if it is a fault they they have seen before, unlikely to be the ink or paper but I would not rule anything out at this point, and if you can, try a process of elimination until you find what is causing it.

I know its a waste, but try sublimating a blank unprinted sheet of paper. That will either eliminate the printer or point you to the fault.

If the unprinted version yields the same results then try a different batch or, even better, different make of paper.

I had a problem that I was getting an extremely pale pink tinge in the what should be white bits on my mugs. Finally worked it out... It was photoshop!! Started a completely new version of Photoshop, and a new file. Problem solved. Don't know if this helps.

As Social said wrap around a piece of your sub paper with nothing on it and press. Do the marks appear? If yes could be mug, or paper, if no its the printer.

If Yes, wrap around and ordinary piece of printer paper. Do the marks appear? If yes it's the mugs.

Also, for another test, print a completely white page from photoshop, and wrap this around the mug and press it - this will show if there are residue bit of dust/paper/ink getting on your paper as it goes through the printer
