Hello, new member here.
i understand there is an ICC profile for the sg2100n
I bought mine as it's a much cheaper start up option, if it's worthwhile and I get enough work I will upgrade but for now, I need the profile as my prints aren't the best. The black is coming out brownish, and gradients aren't coming out right either.
if someone can point me in the direction of someone that can help I would appreciate it very much,
Before posting this i read the thread about numpty newbies not researching. I as a newbie can see why some people would be a little defensive on this as it is an aggressive attitude. I did some research, and i chose to buy cheap, as i have already invested in over £30'000 worth of other printing machinery and stock in the last year. but, i like the idea of sublimation printing and want to give it a go. Im happy to waste money on blanks to get it right, If i do, and i can see it as a viable business addition, i will invest in the best i can get at that point.
but for now, i understand i may have dropped a ball and bought the wrong printer, and this one isnt quite right. it is printing, and i am sublimating, but not at the quality i would like. if i can get the black to appear black instead of brown i will be happy.
thanks for reading.

thanks in advance

Just to be clear...you've spent £30k in the last year and you've chosen the 2100 for sublimation printing? 2100 isn't suitable for sublimation, I've said this several times in posts over the past few days. 3110 is as cheap as you want to go to start with.

If you need a profile speak to 'Paul' but imo stop wasting your time on the 2100. Start with a decent set-up and save all that money you'd waste on blanks.

Yes that's right, I have a 1.6m wife format solvent printer and the same size cutter for vinyl and graphics.
unfortunately I saw the 2100 being sold as part of a kit on eBay, so I looked it up and it does say in s few places it's capable. So I bought one

Brown being black could be that you're burning the black ink by too much time or temp.
Or it could be you need an ICC making
Or it could be the ink you're using doesn't have a very good black to start with.

Getting an ICC from Paul will cost around £25, so isn't going to break the bank to find out if your set up is up to the job.

I'm not sure I buy the idea that the 2100 isn't suitable for sublimation, the trickier thing and probably where people fall down with it is that they can't get decent inks that will work in it - and this would be true for trying to use any of the Ricoh office printers for sublimation if you want to avoid Sawgrass inks.
If you're wanting the inexpensive route, then you'd be better off starting with a Epson printer and Sublinova inks. You'll still need an ICC making, but at least you'll have a printer that can take very good quality ink that is readily available.

Paul, if you're reading this thread, have you done any ICCs for 2100 users - have they been succesful? what ink were they using? what's the gamut look like?

The 2100 head is same as the 3110 so is just as good for sublimation. Many of my clients use it. Free custom profiles for those with my inks. Always have always will. My personal opinion is ticoh hwads have inherent issues and can create banding at any time i know many using sawgras ink who had faliures i also think youre better off with epson. But careful with sublinova inks they di different versions for different heads. Pm me for advice i supply more sublinova than almost anyone in uk.

Thank you for some constructive but helpful responses.
i know buying a better printer initially would be a lot easier but I didn't do I'm working with what I have :)
if I can get the icc and get it to kind of work I can learn what I need to and then once I'm happy I might go on to an Epson.

Very surprised to hear that, having tested the 2100 myself and spoken to several suppliers including ink manufacturers who all confirmed that this printer wasn't suitable, obviously we were all wrong :-)

Id say so i have one here i tested with my ink its fine .

The 2100 has exactly the same head and inking system the software amd processor are different. Id imagine your ink manufacturers are chinese these guys generally are not manufacturers they just copy aomeone elses ink and have no real r&d . I know most of the big manufacturers in china and one of my collegues actually sells ink INTO china.
