came back from 4/5 days away last month, went out to go to shops, turn key, everything lights up as norm, then nothing.

not turning over, nada, kapoot.

no click, nothing.

checked all fuses,all fine....
called out the AA guy, cause i was stumped....he said "you got water damage"....i said, "me or the car son"...THE CAR !

ok, phoned the 2 local garages that are worth phoning, NONE would even look at it cause it was electrical water damage.

phoned specialist garage up in city....er...it "might" be this, or that, or it could be this, no maybe that, dont know till we have it up here.
dont have any room till next month !!! all i kept seeing was £ signs the way this trumpet was going on.

didnt know what else to do....phone my insurance company

after 5 days they came back, we are writing it off as a total loss - i,m like WHAT .
yep you heard it....was going to cost way to much to fix in a dealer garage due to the extent of the water damage - had got into the ECU and wiring loom - and that was just from the heavy rain we had up here last month.

so once cheque comes in, off to look for another car

shocked i was, and still am. yeh ok, i,m getting insurance money back for it, but i really liked the car

What's the car that got damaged? I've an Audi a4 avant estate 2002 which sat over christmas, water collected by battery as a drain hole was blocked and the brake servo sat in water, car had steamed up inside so i checked it oit, unblocked drain holes rubber grommet valve and seemed ok until freezing temps other day, driving along the brakes got sluggish then wouldn't release properly. Think water got into servo and had froze as it was okay later when temps warmed up! Water damaged servo is common fault on mine when googled it! Also iwater can lead to elec damage in some cases. I'm hoping the servo will dry out and it recovers okay

Must be the time of year. Mine was written off as well. I beleived the Cam Belt had been changed and it haddent. Replacement engine costs more than value of the car.
No insurence help either for me so be thankful you have that.

Pesky drain plugs, should be cleaned as part of the service. If it's a common fault you could try to get MB to cover it, on Audi's like mine it was a recall and they removed them, many were able to get this covered as a fault by Audi, no recalls or warranty on those that slip outside the dealer network of course!
