Hi guys,

I'm from Newcastle. I have recently bought my first printer and mug press for dye sublimation.
I currently have an eBay store where we sell signage and wall art vinyls.
Thought with the money we had made through eBay we would buy ourself a printer and mug press and add mugs to our store.

I went cheap on the printer as it's our first attempt and bought a ricoh sg 3110dn along with a set of refillable carts and ink as I didn't know what was involved and just wanted to get to grips with making them...if it didn't work out then there was no harm in trying.

My blank mugs arrived today so I have had a play around

Attempt 1: not a bad job but forgot to reverse the file before printing it.
Attempt 2: let my 4 year old pick a design and he helped out, turned oit good

Noticed my black is slightly out and have been told I will need an profile making.
I contacted a digital printer today who has told me that it's not possible for him to make a profile for dye sublimation so I'm on the look out for somebody who can make one for me.

Did you not get the sawgrass inks with the printer? As this would mean you could have used their Powerdriver ( icc profile) also they then cover the warranty as Ricoh wash their hands of it once the sublimation ink goes in.

To be honest, the printer was only £49 new with free delivery so im not gonna lose any sleep over it if anything happens to it. Couldn't justify spending £200 on inks for a £50 printer when starting out. I know that a profile is needed and that you get profiles through sawgrass with the powerdriver.
Buying the printer was just to see how well it starts out. If it works out OK, Im more than happy to buy a better printer and use sawgrass licenced inks
