Hi guys,
so I have spent the day playing around with my craft robo and the extra bits of vinyl that Martin from BMS kindly gave me as an extra to trial with (thank Martin - much appreciated

).
I was always planning on making my own sign for the shop - i.e I have the logo (multi coloured letters on a black background) so I don't think I will have too much trouble producing the letters to overlay for the logo.
My question is, after looking on MDP Supplies (Mulberry) I found the Correx boards. Would the best way to acheive a sign for the shop, lets say about 6 foot in length, to buy the correx boards - cut them to the right width and then join them together?
If this is right - how do you join them together?

Hi Adam,
Try Googling Amari Plastics, you should be able to get material for a shop sign from them, that way you shouldn't need to join anything.

Thanks Alan - found the site, but it's quite hard to navigate (or maybe that's just me).
Have you had any experience of joining correx together?

No I haven't, you could always try ringing Amari and ask if they do a similar product and ask their advice. The worst they could say is get lost.

My motto has always been if you don't ask the answer is always no.

Why would you need to join it together, are you not fixing it to some sort of fascia?.
I used 2 of the 4ft ones for my shop sign. Think the other way round from starting at one side, work out from the middle and make your sign so that the lettering doesn't have to cross over the crack between the boards

If its a permanent sign, you might want to use something a bit more sturdy than correx - if your using Amari try their aluminium composite board, its long lasting, can be cut with a stanley knife, and is better suited for shop signs etc.
I'd only use correx or foamex for basic signs that would be used short term.

Thanks John - much appreciated.
I'm licky really that the sign will be under cover as there is a large overhang over the shop front so I very much doubt the sign will get wet although it will be out in the open.

Its not the getting wet that's the problem - if its foamex it goes brittle after time, isn't UV proof, so if you have coloured board it fades, and also warps with the sun.
Far better pay a little bit more - even the budget alupanel is so much better than foamex or correx.
Cheers John
