I re-registered here as I used to do a little sublimation about 10 years ago and had a quality set of presses but usual trouble with Epson printers, so sold the lot! Anyway, last year I got back into this and bought the Ricoh printer and a Corelgraph mug press. On the whole, I have been very happy with the press and images and have no customer complaints but I have an enquiry for 108 mugs and these will have a sold logo near the bottom of the mug.

My sample mug showed that the solid band was a little faded at the edge, so I increased the time to 220 secs at 180c to allow for pre-heating and whilst better, I am not entirely happy. I use signzworld mugs, which have been good in the past.

So, do the vertical presses work any better for images with more colour near the handle? I appreciate most people warn against the cheap chinese presses on ebay but are they really any different than ones sold by BMS and other retailers? They all look the same.

ANy thoughts on the difference in performance of the presses would be appreciated.

Obviously the press has much to do with getting a decent print but getting a good straight mug is also essential. I use Adkins Studio plus which are horizontal. Mugs I print at 180c for 180 secs. If I'm full wrap printing (which I tend to avoid) I will pre-warm the base a little.

Nothing gets you particularly close to the handle, you may find a press that gives you a few more mm but you soon come to terms with the fact that you aint getting as close as you'd like!

I had nothing but trouble with Signzworld mugs, I always ended up with fading either at the sides or top and bottom. This was a couple of years ago so things could well be different by now but If I were you I would get some premium mugs from somewhere like BMS and give them a whirl
