Printed my first ever cup today and have a little problem on a bit of the bottom edge, do I need more pressure thanks, its hard to see but its gone a little blue

I will be the first to bow to the superior knowledge of many experienced members on here but, to me, it looks slightly undercooked on the edge.

It might help to know how you press your mugs - mug heat press or 3D press. If it is a heat press then the heat wrap does not always cover the full dimensions of the mug - depending on your press.

From my own limited experience the extreme top and bottom edges of the mug tend to be more difficult and more temperamental to successfully print because of this. The image can show as pale and slightly discoloured if things are not right. I hope I am correct in saying that a vast majority of people leave a white border top and bottom to account for that.

There is a great deal of conflicting information around concerning just how much image area you can have on a mug and I think that depends on the press you use as much as anything else.

It could also be the effect of heat being 'soaked' by the additional mass of the mug at the bottom so it does not heat up as rapidly as the rest and so the image is not transferred as much and appears paler. There is a lot already on this topic on the forum.

Thank you, I use a jtrans mug press from dyesublimationsupplies and am very happy with it I was pressing at 180 for 180 seconds but also had a pre temp set at 110, I placed the base in for a few seconds to warm, then I put the mug in at 110, once it reached 180 degrees the 180 second countdown started, I am doing a few more tomorrow so will see, but I may try the white border round the outside, but thanks for all the info

More pressure should help is the first thought on the image. The Base is the hardest part to get right but a lack of heat usually gives a different type of fading. Your image starts to show signs of flaming which is related to getting firm pressure around the slightly tapering Base.

All the information above is spot on, mugs are thicker at the bottom so need warming up, also some taper that might give you this problem. Not taking the image right to the top and bottom will help as well, another option to try is wrap the mug in a piece of silicone sheet before you put it in the press, it is a learning curve but will soon be well away and flying them out the door.

Pre heating the base will help. Some people use the Teryaki Grills to preheat their mugs. This kind of thing.
