I got some cheaper quality ink just to see if I can get on with sublimation before spending a load of money on expensive ink. I've now got the expensive ink so whats the best way to go about flushing the printer? I actually brought a whole new set of refillable carts from ebay which I am really annoyed about - it said based in the UK when actually it looks like they are coming from Hong Kong. I thought about just filling up a new set of carts and replacing the old ones but I really wanted to start pressing mugs for a convention this weekend.
Can I just keep printing until the carts with the lower qual ink run out and then refill them with the branded ink or will that mess up the printer? I've read about people doing that before and I would wait for these new cartridges to arrive but they are already over a week after the estimated arrival date with no replies from the seller. Am I better waiting for new carts/buying from somewhere else or can I get away with emptying the old carts and replacing the ink?

If I were you I'd get a new set of carts for your new ink, from the above link or 'ink-girl' on eBay (the same company I think - but check prices on the website vs eBay). They arrived quick when I ordered from them too.

Then, if it were me personally I'd empty the old carts and put cleaning fluid in, flush that through the printer a few times to clean out all the old ink, then replace with the new carts/ink.

Of course, you could just put the new carts in and do a few head cleans/flushes, until you are sure the new ink has replaced the old ink in the pipes, but this way you are potentially wasting a lot of your new expensive ink.

Thanks guys, I thought it would be best to wait but just wanted to make sure. Weirdly enough I got a refund for the carts that hadn't turned up so I ordered more from Ink-girl...now the refunded carts have turned up! However, the magenta doesn't work because the printer won't recognise it so glad I ordered more!

Similar problem, so I hope Drix doesn't mind my tagging along.

I've just acquired some gx7000 that have had dye-sub inks in them, but I want to convert some of them back to gel inks.
Read the suggestion of filling empty carts with cleaning fluid (like what ?), then flushing the old ink out, followed by changing over to gel ink carts.

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of this, and any tips on potential problems/better methods ?
