Hey All,

I'm going to be adding leather cases to my range but want the best.

I can see there is a big price difference from various suppliers with pictaleather being one of the most expensive.

Can anyone tell me if there is much difference in quality between them (or other makes) not just in terms of sublimation but also actual case quality (fit, stitching etc)?

Thanks,
John.

Hi John, from what i an tell, the cheaper cases dont have a split behind the card part for you to put money in, stitchin isnt to much differnt but idealy you need to be printing on a smaller plated as when the magnet gets pressed it dosent work aswell

Hi Guarddog - Thanks very much for that. I got the ones with slots for cards and a crease so it doubles as a stand.
First try was a bit iffy (print not to even) but I think that's due to my press. It's a fixed plate so I can't change the size but I'm going to try putting a shim on one edge when I get a minute and I think that may solve it.

Hi John

The best way to press leather flip cases is.

place a small piece of card on both sides of the magnet using heat tape (I cut a bit off a smash proof mug box as not to thick)

then press the case using medium/heavy pressure for about 10-15 secs to pre warm the case

remove the case and place on top of artwork and press for 55 seconds at 190 degrees (this give more uniform print)

Remove from the press and remove artwork and then close the case as soon as possible so the magnet is closed

Hope this helps you, I've printed thousands of flip cases and never had a bad using this method

No problem at all, I know how it feels I wasted loads when I first started doing flip cases with magnets failing and print quality not great even suppliers times etc didn't do anything it wasn't until I played about and found this solution
