Hi, this is nothing to do with printing. I am looking to expand my range of gifts. I already do dye sub items and garment vinyl printing. I want a machine that will cut out acrylic shapes and also wooden shapes. I think it may be a laser cutter.
Has anyone had any experience with this and can offer advice on what machine to buy or where to go to get advice. When using Google everything comes up eBay machines from China and I don't know if they are any good. I got my fingers burnt when buying my first heat press from eBay.

Hi Andy,
These things as your probably aware are not cheap I dealt with GS UK for my embroidery machine but they also do DTG printers and the Laser cutters they have a pretty good website so you will probably get some good info there or give them a call there a good reliable company to deal with. But I fear you may need a large wallet. Good luck in your new venture.

I think a CNC router is also an option.

Depending on your requirements, you cannot get a mirror finish on the edge of acrylic using a router. It would have to be flamed or passed through a diamond polisher which can only do straight edges. I built a prototype system for Lion Picture Framing to trim ACP panels but never took it to market for that reason. A fine matt finish is possible but difficult inside curves etc. I also looked at having (sinage) items cut by a 3rd party and this may be another road to go down and it may not be that expensive.
