Hi all, I have an Adkins press and want to press to the center of a t-shirt sleeve which means that the seam is directly under where I want to place my transfer/vinyl/sub image. I've searched the forum for an answer but I'm getting nothing that relates to this. I tried a mouse mat, layers of off cut t-shirt, silicon baking sheet etc and all fail drastically, especially when I use no weed transfers of which are perfect on the flat of the platen but not when the have anything underneath to try and even the pressure. I have a client that wants a volume order front and back of t-shirt plus sleeve. I know Adkins and TMT do not supply a base plate suitable for T sleeves, has anyone used the teflon pads from Yolo or Ralawise??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use cut up mouse pads and have often found that I need two or three layers built up within the sleeve. They are a pain and if I did loads of them I think I would purchase a special heat press or get a platen made specifically for that purpose.

I use a cap press if thats any good, you haven't got to spend a lot of money I just have a cheap one that does my caps and sleeves

I use the 15cm Adkins interchangable platten which is perfect for this job. Or , as Jennywren suggested, use a cap press.

I haven't done sleeves, but I was wondering if you could put the sleeve in upside down, i.e. with seam on top, & then pad inside the sleeve. The vinyl would be flat on the platten, though you might have to increase the time.

Hi Mate, thanks for that, I tried a mouse mat with a white toner transfer, it did help even the pressure a little and maybe another layer would have cured it. However, the transfer gets discoloured? I don't know why but I'm guessing there may be some kind of gas reaction. Same image presses great in the usual way.

I think the way forward is a smaller base plate or a cap press as the others have mentioned and use.

No................... lot's of dots as message was too short

1cm thick rubber mat on flat bed press.. every t-shirt I do gets a sleeve tag right there, no problems.
