2 years old and no problems until today.
LC is missing a big block on a nozzle check. Never had this before. 2 cleans and nozzle checks, no change. Power clean, nozzle check no change. Run Light cyan colour block print, nozzle check no change, repeat (Power clean nozzle check, LC Block print, nozzle check) no change at all.

Loathe to do another power clean just yet as I understand it can cause damage.

Magic bullet on order....

Not feeling happy.

Do you know how to do the supersonic clean? Bit extreme maybe. Never tried one myself but Sawgrass did once try to get me to do one with my 7890.

Hi Justin
I am holding off that until I have got the "Magic Bullet" and done that. My understanding is that the SS clean can kill the head. It fires the head (and thus nozzles) and vibrates it, this process requires flowing ink to cool the nozzles. Now normally if the heads are getting hot the system will shut down. However as the SS clean is in the service section this safety cut out is over ridden, hence the nozzle can get too hot and burn out.

I may be wrong there...but that is my understanding.

I am just praying that it is dirt as the blank section is about 1/6 of the LC test pattern and the same area every time. This may be paper dust with dried ink.....fingers crossed.

are your dampers OK? Can you see them clearly on that model? On the 7600/9600 you can see them to see when they've gone bad ... had a chunk of one colour go when a damper was leaking slightly, resulting in low pressure in the line, so not enough to fill the head.

OK "Magic Bullet" soaked J-cloth is in place, now to leave overnight....fingers crossed. Up early in the morning for a quick nozzle check and repeat process if needed. Then away all day.

Hope it works!

Logged with xpres as I bought it from them as a used unit (4 months old when I had it) I have checked and only had it 14 months.....if the head is dead I will be one very grumpy Janners.
