Hi All,

I have been trying to press a phone case ...

The image has been created in CorelDraw .. as RGB (I was using CMYK and printing as RGB but corrected that so now creating as RGB, Printing as RGB)

The attached pictured of "Case.jpg" is what I am trying to print .. Basically it is just a black background with white text.

But when it is printed I noticed that it is not very "black" but i thought to press anyway ..

Once pressed this is the finished result .. see picture of Paper.jpg and Pressed.jpg ...

I pressed the case for 60 seconds at 180 Degrees C ..

Is there a problem with printing black rather than a pressing issue ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

We really need to know what equipment you are using to give a decent answer. What printer? paper? inks? press? as all of these factors will have an effect on your finished product. Also if you have a good look through this wonderful forum I am sure you will find the answers you are looking for.

Thanks for the reply ..

All the kit was purchased used so not 100% on the answers but here goes;

Printer is an Epson WF-3010 using a CISS
Paper - not sure but i am guessing unbranded sublimation paper
Inks - also not sure as ink was already in the CISS when purchased ..

Press looks like an unbranded press which i was told was purchased from signzworld ?

I have managed to print and press pictured onto phone cases / coasters fine and the colours appear to come out OK, it just seems this complete black background is causing an issue !

Thanks.

if you don't know the inks, then how are you going to refill it with the same inks when then time comes?
Did the seller provide the ICC profile for the ink?

You need to find out what ink you are using so you can get more ink and get an ICC made, without it your colours are never going to be correct.

Black coming out brown is usually down to over cooking. Try dropping the temp or time. Also instead of doing a whole phone cover in one go print some 1cm squares out and print one at a time onto the same cove making a note of the times and temps for each one.

Thanks - I'll give that a go ... though I think I did notice when it printed out it didnt look like a dark black but I will try with the squares.

Cheers.

Also....check the black is 'black' in your software and not made up from other colours.
