I am guessing I should have read up here first but I am like a bull in a china shop. I have just pressed some tea towels and the area outside of the paper but within the press has turned brown. I used a baking sheet to cover the whole platten area as well. I am now thinking should I have just raised the A4 printed area.

I am guessing that I have answered my own question.

Sounds more like you have scorched the material

Surely the material shouldn't scorch as it is made to be pressed at 190 as per the instructions

How accurate is the temperature on your press.

Is the press face contaminated..... what else could make the item discolour.

It is browned exactly the press size not in just certain areas. I have not calibrated the press but if i was wanting a light brown tea towel i would not need to sublimate one as the the scorched area is a perfect shade all over not hot or cold spots. As for the actual temp I haven't got an infared reader but as I say there are no hot/cold spots and all my other products have pressed fine. I clean the face once a week just in case. As i only have a 30cm by 40cm press I have just pressed the part of the towel that didn't fit under the press at the same temp and time with baking paper on top but no image and the browning matched the other bits perfectly!!!! I will contact the supplier on Monday.
