I am looking for a reliable mug press that does both standard and thinner china mugs.
Just like the one from BMS, I think it is called the DS14 with multiple wraps?
Needs to work perfectly because i am a novice and therefore I need to know that any problems are me and not the press!
You can get me on 01938 811918 if you need to speak to me.
Thanks all.

Are you specifically looking for second hand Cath? Do you have a budget in mind?

I guess i am just looking for a bargain, i am in a difficult position, i need a better press to be able to get the quality i need to sell professionally made mugs, but i need to sell some mugs in order to pay for the press.
My existing press is not great, i bought a new heat wrap which died after about 5 mugs (the temperature went through the roof and killed it!)
My budget depends entirely on what is on offer. The new one from BMS would be ideal, but at just under £400 it's more than i can spare until i get some sales in.
thanks

Do you need to be printing the different size mugs to start with? I've only ever printed 10oz (11oz in the early days) I've toyed with the idea of printing china etc. but the market for me at least wouldn't justify the additional price. I appreciate that your market may be different though.
I have the DF10 from BMS which is a decent enough press. They don't seem to stock them anymore though, just the heat blankets. The DF1 appears to be the cheapest, at around £176 it isn't
too expensive. We've said this many times recently but I'll say it again, buy right first time and save yourself the expense of having to buy over again....well something like that anyway! A decent press will soon pay for itself
Have you consdered a small mug oven with different sized wraps? May be a possibility.

I am asked for the china mugs more than the standard mugs at the moment, i am sure as soon as i get a china mug press they will ask for the standard mugs! supply and demand and all that!
I will have to battle on 'farting about' with the old silicone inserts for a bit longer! I have thought about an oven, I considered getting a normal halogen oven used for food cooking and trying some mugs in there, i read somewhere that they worked? If it didn't work i would keep it to use for food instead so no loss, has anyone tried this?????????

Yes, I had the JML £50 oven. It worked as well as the oven they sell specifically for sublimation

Basically the same thing, in fact I think the JML was better made. Still around for the same price, even cheaper if you look on eBay. You'd also need decent gloves (I used Coolskin) and obv. the wraps. You can get an extension ring and I've heard of some printers getting more mugs in. Can't really see the point as it would just extend cook time. I found in reality it took 20 minutes to cook 4 mugs, despite the advertised 12 minutes. Still not as quick as doing them individually in a press, a little more tedious with the wraps etc. (2 sets advised) but it does give you the option of different size mugs/wraps and mixing them.

Thanks for that, now seriously thinking about getting an oven. Do you know who sells china wraps at the best price?
I do have some large wraps knocking about here, but they were very tricky to get off as they bolted in, they also chip the mugs if you are not careful, could do with some that 'clip' closed rather than with a bolt.
thanks again,
really glad i joined this forum!
