I'm beginning to feel I can't compete any longer with sublimation.
When you come to think of the costs, I can only assume the cost of ink will rocket the end price of the product... £201 (plus delivery) for 129ml of ink!
Can someone tell me, on average, how much life you get out of Sublijet-R cartridges? Do they last longer than typical ink cartridges? Mine don't last very long at all, and I just can't see myself paying £201 every couple of weeks. Can I still profit?
Are there any licensed alternatives? :frown:

Plenty of room for profit. First set of carts in the printer don't last anywhere near as long as a lot of the ink stays in the long tubes (Ricoh) next set will last a lot longer. Even when they show low ink they'll keep on printing, I really wouldn't worry about it

If you flying with ink every couple of weeks you should be able to afford new printer every month with new carts

I wish to have so many orders so i go through my ink in two weeks.
but seriously.. my lasted LOOONG time. about 6mc i think.(this is first set so filled pipes) But in this time i managed to make enough profit out of it so got myself roland gx24, loads of mugs, other blanks, christmas present and still got some money left on my account. thats all out of one set of subliJET carts. so, if you priced properly you should be very happy bunny

There's room for profit in Sawgrass' consumer inks, but there is obviously a bigger profit margin if you can source less expensive ink.
If you are seriously using a set of tiny Sawgrass carts every fortnight, then you really need to consider buying bulk litre inks and a wide format printer to go with them, your ink costs would be about a tenth of what they are for the tiny Sawgrass carts!

My Ricoh has been showing low ink for the last month and it still keeps printing. This is my first set so does the printer just stop or does the printed image show obvious signs?

The image should not show any signs in my experience it will give good results up to the last print prior to a cartridge being empty. Then whichever runs out it will say "Ink out" Rather than buying full sets I tend to keep an eye on the levels & get a single ink order for the one that displays the lowest ink content.
Hope that helps

Don't be tempted into buying new carts before you need them due to short shelf lives

Have any of the professionals on here worked out rough cost per 10oz mug of ink using Sawgrass ink with a complete wraparound design?
A ball park figure would be really useful for me.
I did search but its one question I cant find the answer for.
