I know this sounds simple but not just now. Need a good image of Olaf from Disney's Frozen to go onto a iPad case. All the images I get from Google ends up blurred and unusable when sized for some reason. Doing my head in.

Assuming you have a license for printing designs of Disney, then surely they'll supply the licensed imagery you are contracted to use?

Lots, depends on lots of factors to be negotiated.
What image you want, how many times you want/intend to print it, what geographical area you will be selling to, how long you want the license for, what you're printing it to, etc, etc Also, licenses can be paid in diffeent ways, ranging from one-off upfront fee, to a % of £ of each sale/unit, or a combination of the two
If you want to get into licensing then the Brand Licensing Europe tradeshow in October is where you should go, as lots of brands from big multinationals like the aforementioned Disney down to independent artists and designers are there to sell licenses of their works.

I knew you would know the answer. I am learning a lot from this site that hopefully I will be able to use one day, but as for now the I will just build my reputation and reinvest where I can.

Disney will not license out in the UK.

However in general for a popular item (Batman for example) you can expect to pay between 50-75k per year, plus a percentage on sales. This would be for one item and one market (i.e. mugs in the UK)

I asked marvel for one to make mugs once and they came up ith around 50 k for 18 months use i think it was,

i think and im hoping someone will know on here the idea is if you run large scale operation you sell to wholesalers who would then sell to shops but i think you need the proper packaging and you would also need to sell them fairly cheap to wholesale i think im not 100% sure going to go to the next licensing show just to try an get my head around it,

If you go to BLE in the gallery at Olympia you will find more independent designers and artists who you will more likely be able to afford to license work from, so you could potentially negotiate a mutually beneficial deal. However, just because they are "small" brands, doesn't mean they are going to sign their work away easily - they will likely want to know how established and well placed you are to maintain the standards that their brand is already seen to have, and a lot of designers already do their own printing of small things like mugs (or already have deals for this) so will most likely looking for companies to license to that can get them their work onto products that are a bit harder to do yourself, or will be looking for a much bigger market/audience to see their work on a global scale.
That been said, everything is negotiable, and you may be able to commission a designer to do some designs for you - the show will let you see lots of different work from you to choose who is most suitable for the product/market you want to go for.
