Hi Karen, ok I did the transparent png so that the black background from the mug shows through and just did the eyes so the text disappears but how do I get rid of the black background? I clicked the eye against this before to get the white and grey checked background?

In Coreldraw I did export, selected png and unticked transparency and opened in ps and did select all and copy and paste and it looks like the below. It's the second layer down.

All I do is extend the white background of your original picture so that it fits the template, move your picture up the list so that is at the top and the text will disappear.

I emailed PSD about the problem I was having with the transparent background and they suggested this but have tried lots of different ways and a white solid background still appears. Couldn't get the mug to flip round either!

Try this.

1) Instead of “no background” create a solid white background
2) make the opacity of that solid white layer to 1-4%

Now it will render properly.

When Photoshop crops the image to render on the mockup it will always crop down to existing pixels. On your template you want it transparent which creates a problem since PS will automatically crop to the visible image. With the solid white background this problem is removed (even though you cannot see it because the opacity is set to near translucent).

As for the handle reverse, simply flip your design horizontally so that the render which is created is reversed. When it’s done just flip the entire canvas to achieve the effect.

Hi Lianne,

Yes, your pic 2 replies ago is what I would expect.
Now you need to create a larger image in coreldraw so that the imported pic fills the centre section of the template.
To stop the background being too white, fill the background with an off-white colour - say rgb 240 240 240 - before exporting as png.

Here's my test file imported into PS.:

Here's the resulting mug:

Now to change the handle - takes a bit of sideways thinking.
First - when you've pasted pic into PS, transform layer by flipping horizontally.

Then render.

Then flip canvas horizontally again
