But I don't want that printer, I want my own choice of printer or an A4 printer with my trusted brand of ink going back years. So you buy refill carts and use whichever ink you prefer.
There is a section on InkTec's website covering their warranty support, and it seems they will support a printer used with their ink, and cover faults caused by their inks. I expect that this is a paid optional extra, whereas with Sawgrass it is inclusive whether you want it or not.
Although I do know of a case where InkTec shipped a bottle of solvent ink instead of sublimation ink by mistake, and did replace the printer due to it melting with the wrong ink being put in it. It could have been argued that the user should have noticed it was solvent ink from the labelling, and it was a very differently labelled bottle from the sublimation ink in the same shipment, but they replaced it with a new printer without laying any blame on the customer.

Solvent link lol, "Hello Inktec? My printer is now a big melted pile of gloop on the workbench. I'm not getting a decent nozzle check with your inks." :)

Pretty much, LOL. Mistakes happen, they accepted blame, and printer was replaced with a brand new one.

Which would someone recommend for an epson A4 printer using a cis ?
I am a general printer so know the pitfalls just need to buy the right one.

I will be using inktec inks and dye sub magic paper and need an epson that can take a cis or refillable carts, i will be doing large quantities of small product printing so dont really need an A3 as yet and the 1500w will be the one i go for .. but all the A4 ones i look at in the list above are old machines and are no longer sold so any help would be perfect

That would be ILLEGAL! inktec inks for the 42inch wide machine or larger believe me SAWGRAS do not look favourable on this.

Bear in mind INKTEC WILL NOT warranty a small format machine as their ink is for LARGE FORMAT ONLY>

Bare in mind that Sawgrass' patent for sublimation ink expired September 2014. Even during the time it was active, it was more than questionable whether it actually applied to the type of sublimation inks actually used with Epson printers. If the type of sublimation ink used with Epson printers was within the scope of the patent, even then it wouldn't have been "illegal" to use it. Sawgrass certainly didn't look favorably on anyone who would question what they said, especially when it came to the patent situation.

As for warrantying a small format printer, InkTec did replace a small format printer for a client of mine when their ink did break it - due to the warehouse sending out a litre of solvent ink instead of sublimation ink. They also replaced the CISS. This has been the only case I've had of InkTec needing to offer any warranty support to my clients, after selling their ink since 2011.

ONE patent expired but many more did not, just try and advertise dye sublimation ink on ebay and find your ad removed due to IP infringement. I work with INKTEC as a reseller and sell a very large amount of their inks, I have to agree to sell it to only people who have 42inch wide printers and NOT DESKTOP , failiure to do this leaves my company open for prosecution and removal from INTECs dealer status. I infact had an ad removed as I worded it incorrectly I sell INKTEC in 100ml bottles on ebay as Samples and I had to put the 42inch disclaimer on the ad . Beleive me the patents by Sawgras (or KIAN as they are now) are still very much in force. Feel free to call me any time to discuss this Im very open about it. OR call DAN or Sarah at INKTEC EUROPE ask them about my company (white Space Media Limited) on 1993 862 770

cheers
