Well he's come back and said it's the right ink and it's strange, as he has lots of customers that use their inks that also use this forum. [I haven't mentioned being on here, by the way].

You need to buy your inks from an authorised sublimation ink supplier. Prices don't vary much so alarm bells should start ringing if prices are way lower than everywhere else.
Woops!
I was wrong, it is a different reseller on Ebay rebottling into 250 and 500ml quantities, not City Ink. Many apologies to City Ink and to readers here for any confusion.

twinsgran;60621 wrote:As I said, they came in plain bottles with just an initial for the colour. I paid £15 per bottle. I actually emailed them and asked which were the correct inks to order and they emailed back with their answer and the invoice.
I've just emailed them again and asked them to double check that they sent me the correct ones.
twinsgran;60623 wrote:But the invoice says sub inks and that's what I asked for in the email. As I just said in the previous post, I've emailed them to confirm [or deny] that they sent the right ones. I'll keep you posted whenI get the reply.

As Justin reminds members all the time, discussing unlicensed ink on the forum isn't permitted for reasons just like this I'd suggest. This documented account of a third party unlicensed sublimation ink provider decanting ink from larger bottles to smaller bottles and selling to members on this forum invites a very strong legal response from Sawgrass. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes come Monday morning!

I'm sorry to have started this thread. If you have to delete it then that's the way it has to be.

It's not quite as clear cut as that though.
InkTec's sublimation ink, which City Ink resell, is licensed by Sawgrass.
Assuming that City Ink source their ink through InkTec's distribution channel, then they are an official reseller (obviously this may not be the case if they've imported from another source)
They resell InkTec sublimation ink, so assuming that they have sourced it through InkTec's own distribution network, then they are a licensed seller.

So, it is a third party ink, but then so are Sawgrass themselves, but it is licensed, and from an official supplier.

The ink only becomes unlicensed when it is decanted, and sold in the smaller quantities.

Are you assuming (or do you know) that Sawgrass IP/Legal dept actively read this forum to have seen this thread.
There is a LOT more blatant discussion of non-Sawgrass inks, of all types, on the much larger T-Shirt Forums, and no one seems to bat an eye.

thats cheap @£15 per 100ml - in fact its way to cheap top be even "cheap sub ink" TBH...
and i really cant see that company p*****g about selling 100ml bottles for pennys either.

They have sold you pigment inks here......and another thing to learn very quickly my friend, if you do buy inks from an "unsupported" source, you 110% DO NOT come on to a sub forum and start saying where you got it from.
sure way to get them in the s**t, and for you to lose all trust built up between you and them.
but we ALL live and learn, and you were not to know.

just passing comment, don't take it the wrong way, nothing personal -its only business

First of all, I'm new to all this having just bought all my equipment etc., so after asking a company what sublimation inks I need for my printer and they tell me, why would I even contemplate that they would be wrong?
Secondly, I mentioned where I got them from because someone on here asked me to tell.

Justin invited Sawgrass on here so clearly Sawgrass know of this forum. Whilst they do not have a section there are plenty of pseudonyms on here so who knows who anyone is!

Think this is all fuss about nothing as its pretty obvious that there pigment inks as they are not subliminating.

~Pigment inks are heat transfer inks if used with inkjet transfer paper you can sublimate onto mousemats, and i think this is where the confusion lies. (i also got confused on this in the begining) although wont sublimate onto other materials it will on material with inkjet transfer paper.
