I'm also thinking about opencart. What are your monthly hosting fees from your respective hosting companies??
I'm using a VPS, so I'm paying for that each month regardless of what I host on it. There'd be no point me paying someone else to host my OpenCart.

Thanks JSR! And how much is the VPS cost? I'm currently using EMKpowershop which is £25 a month as a trial (no contract obligations) but now wanting something more flexible - and I like what you've done with yours so far

Unless you're running more than one website and/or you need more control over the server, I don't recommend a VPS just for hosting a website. Your business is selling products, not spending time sorting out server troubles.
I run a VPS because I host several websites and so that I can control which versions of PHP/MySQL/Apache I'm running.
I've never used EKMPowershop and I don't really know what it is, so I can't make any comparisons. Near as I can tell, EKMPowershop is the shallow end of the pool where you get your feet wet; a dedicated server is the deep end where you drown; regular hosting is nearer to the shallow end, while a VPS is nearer to the deep end.
If EKM is a little too inflexible for you, I would think you want to seek out regular hosting that has the requirements to host OpenCart (or whatever shopping cart platform you decide on).

So JSR, can we see your new opencart shop please? AND does the shop look the same as any home page you have or is the shop your home page?

My OpenCart is the website for the printing side of my business -
http://www.mugsandgifts.co.uk
My old ZenCart version is still (temporarily) online at -
http://www.mugsandgifts.co.uk/zshop/index-zen.php (although I've set up a redirect so all links will take you to the new site), but you can get an understanding of what it used to look like from that. I've left this online but in maintenance mode just in case OpenCart failed on me for some reason (wouldn't take a second to turn ZenCart back on).

Why don't you post a link to your hosting website so prospective customers can see what packages you offer?
