I have done this in the past and it works!! They usually suspend the hosting account until you are satisfied and inform them of the same. Usually the address to write to is abuse @ xxxxxxx .com or whoever the hosting company is. They take these matters seriously.

Local photographer has had an image he posted on Facebook copied and used to advertise a business. He used the facebook process to report them. Stopped them in their tracks and now they are whining that people are trying to stop a small business from being succesful.....hmmm like they were by stealing an image!

Well Said Janners.
There must be a fool proof way of doing this, I have a young artist who I will be using for my designs (when the day comes I can finally open) and I don't want his designs stolen - I (in the dark ages) used to emboss my Logo onto my images - is this what you mean by 'Watermark' ?

In photoshop you can mark your images and you can trace them anywhere in google. Paul is more familiar with the process. Mrs Janners also puts here logo on all images to stop the "ohh I didn't know, honest" brigade.

Tried to give you a Rep Point - thank you, I will look into that.
If and when I find out I may well make a video as I am sure many will need to get to know how to do that for everyones sake.

Or you could try a professional service such as
digimark
Costs $49 for the basic package or $99 annually for the pro package
Alternatively use
umark which is free

Would love to know the secret of the 'Photoshop Marking' - not just placing some text on them image as thats easy to remove if you have time to do it.
I must be using the wrong terms to search for this process, how is it done in a searchable way ? It can't just be adding copyright test to the File Info.

Hi Nik
Metadata is the keyword. Mrs Janners has it set up in lightroom and photoshop.

I emailed my infringer's hosting company and after a few exchanges the website owner took them down. It did take a dig in the ribs to let them know that there was no debate about it.
I'm off to play with my ebay vero account tonight and take a few more images down. A designer's work is never done sigh.....
