Suppliers postal charges - a fortune!

I dont mind relative P&P charges but when it's blatant profiteering or just blatant ignoring reality, it does get my back up. I know the real cost of P&P as does almost everyone on this forum. So when real P&P costs are ignored for a total ripoff everyone here should be able to spot it. Sainsbury's charge me £5 for having my shopping delivered. Thats not a rip off in my book as I dont have to spend the time shopping, not going to and coming from the shop and the petrol costs and I'm unlikely to spend anything on anything I dont really want or need if I'm shopping online and the guys kindly bag it and deliver it to my door. So putting a couple of dog collars in a postage bag and popping it in the mail is worth £2 more than what Sainsbury's do? Over twice as much as me wrapping a mug in a poly box, labelling it and taking it to the post office? Thats the kind of thing that annoys me.

have you called magic touch and asked them for a postal price ?? as others have said often on the website multi postage is not on there, give them a call you might be surprised

Not disagreeing, but just pointing out that "and packing" isn't just the box it gets put in. Someone has to pick the goods and pack them as well. Tesco's don't charge your for packing if you collect your shopping off their shelves but if you get it delivered then someone gets paid to pick and pack the goods for you.

When I started my shop I had a similar "Grump". Rang the supplier who explained it to me. Its not just the postage charge its also the admin costs. Order comes in, someone has to print the order out. Then someone else picks the order, packs and labels it. Then an invoice is raised and stuck to the packet or sent separately by post.
The people doing the packing , posting and admin jobs have to be paid for , they are not free. If its one t-shirt or 100, the costs are roughly the same, hence it appears to us as expensive for one or two items.

In response to the ebay item, that is their way of trying to dodge ebay fees!!! Sell something for £500 quid and £10 postage ebay final value fees are £50!!! Sell it for £10 and put £500 postage...final value selling fees £1!!!!!! method in their madness!!! Ebay are trying to stop this by putting postage limits on but thats not working either . I sold a prom dress last week for my daughter and as ebay have now limited the clothing section p & p I was only allowed to put a maximum price for postage as £4!!!! Actually cost me over £15 for postage and packaging ( still arguing over it with ebay now!!!!)

Ebay for a while now have just added together the P&P charges with the final value amount to work out the fees. It's just there are people who do't realise that the rules changed.

I sell on ebay and Im sure my final value fees are based on the item not the postage.... maybe it depends on what you sell?

They don't include the postage on FV fees - just the purchase price. Not in the UK anyway!
