I tried that for a couple of items I really wanted, yet I was still sniped. I had the page on my iPad, and I kept refreshing the page, but I still lost out. It really puts you off using eBay for auction items.

I've had the same problems in the past Jonathan & it has put me off Ebay buying quite a bit unless it's Buy It Now. A few years ago I was after a book & the person who sniped it then got in touch with me to try to sell me it at a very inflated price. I reported him to Ebay with copies of his messages & have never seen him again. It still didn't get me the book I was wanting though.

I've seen the goofbay website (not used the iphone app though). Never used it for sniping but I have used it for market research - its quite good for finding out what's selling and what people are watching within categories or search words you select.

It's called the goofbay most popular tool - web link is here http://www.goofbay.com/ebay_most_popular_tool.html you just type in a search word or phrase and it will give you the top selling items, how many sales, how many watchers etc.
