No such thing as a bright subli printout is there?
On the Ricoh its white side down.

To add my tuppence worth - is your friend (I have 'friends' who have made mistakes and been helped by advice asked by 'me'! - joking) printing from a lower resolution file than those the usual printer uses - eg I keep smaller versions of files for various thumbnails etc, having very similar file names and in the same folder. Printing a smaller file to the same res will give an image that could be described as 'grainy'?
Probably no use, but might be worth checking the exact file to print?
