Well, it's free software. If you need support, you're best off doing what you've done and pay for it. I don't think anyone would disagree with that.
Fortunately, the only questions I've ever had with ZenCart were answered by either their FAQs or a browse of their forum.

although the cubecart forum is still pretty rubbish for support, but if you get really stuck u can email cube direct and its sorted within a few hours
You have to appreciate that support forums depend on the generosity of regular users on there. Nobody is obliged to give folks any help or advice on any type of forum.

When I say "user" I mean the customer buying via the shop. They can add a mug etc to the basket, but have no way of uploading an image to print onto the mug - they have to email that to me following the instructions in the order confirmation email.
you can with cube cart i have it on mine cost me £20 i think for the mod but works a treat
