Yes we tried the profile from Inktec as well as a custom one we had made. It worked but I just felt for the cost the printer did not produce as good a result as it should. I found the results off a 6 colour 1500W were better. Just my 2p worth.

I have no experience with the P800 unfortunately. After the failed results on the 7880 / 4880 we did not bother with another 8 channel machine. I am sure they work fine they just need some fettling and tweaking to get right.

Can you not tweak your ICC profile in the profiling software to make the blacks lighter?

Potentially, tweaking the profile itself is not directly possible as far as I am aware but the printer channels can be adjusted individually to combat the colour issues.

Myself and Christian have been talking for the past week about a trying out the Epson Surecolor SC-P600 which is an 8 channel / colour printer. We have just ordered one and will be testing it with Inktec DTI inks and generating a profile using more color charts; standard profiles are usually made with 2 sheets of colour swatches, an advanced profiles uses 4 sheets with twice as many colour swatches to match and scan so we are hoping this could help things.

We will be creating a thread regarding this printer to show our thoughts and progress.
