well basically, I was hoping to get away with using the student version for commercial purposes! Recession man, times are hard.

I wasn't trying to stir anything up - just thought that when buying you had to show or prove you were a student.

my conscience has got the better of me and I've decided to be a man and go for the full version, but Im still looking to bag a bargain, hopefully on e-bay. There are a couple of sellers offering them for £199.00 but open for offers. Ive made a ridiculous offer and waiting to see what happens....
They are saying its the full UK retail version, so hopefully it should be the right one. Thanks to Goldrapt for mentioning the issue of 'versions'.

Good to hear people doing the right thing with software licenses.

Personally, if the license restrictions mean that I can't afford the software, I don't use the software. I'm not going to pay a company for software and have that company turn me into a criminal by using the software against the license restrictions.

Why a software house needs to find every possible way of fleecing the honest and legal customer just baffles me.

I guess it makes sense, though. These companies are like drugs cartels. Offer software to students at a fraction of the price, wean them onto the product so they don't go elsewhere, encourage them to learn how to use it on the cheap and, just when they're hooked, force them to pay for the full commercial-use version. They must be laughing up their sleeves.

Best not to support these exploitative tactics and seek alternatives from companies that don't employ these nefarious sales techniques.

Sorry ive not been posting last few days. I was diagnosed with M.E. about 4 years ago, and I still suffer with it. Leaves me tired unable to do very little for a few days and rest is the main antidote.

Just wanted to update you guys regarding Coredldraw x4. I put in a bid for £125.00 on ebay for a full UK retail version, which was sealed and selling for £199.00 Seller had 100% rating. Bid was accepted and 48 hours later, it turned up at my door which I had to sign for. As for the Bouton official guide to Coreldraw x4, this was also bought for £20.00 including delivery from Amazon, so I guess Ive bagged a couple of bargains. I guess its worth shopping around for and to also put it an unbelievable bis as sometimes you might get lucky.

Well done, you've got a real bargain there with the coreldraw. I was watching the auction but didn't place a bid as I thought it was you that had made the offer. Let us know how you get on with it. I'll keep my eyes open for a full version of x3 or x4 after xmas.

I think there is another seller on ebay for £199 or best offer. Just to advise you with them, I made 3 offers upto £135.00 which were all rejected. If you do bid with them, make sure you go above £135 on your first offer.

Cheers for that. I really need to get a newer version of coreldraw as x3 and x4 are much better at importing files and creating and opening pdf files.

Will look on ebay for a bargain in January.
