UV LED Printing Machines
Re: UV LED Printing Machines
We looked at the lef200 on the csl digital stand by the Roland stand. They are fujifilm partners too and have developed things used with Roland printers like add ons to cure inks faster. Anyway the lef s do seem a lot of money for what they are, stiff marketing competition from mimaki at the show for a slice of this market from what i could see though the Roland appears to occupy Less physical space. These machines have already evolved from lef12&20 models i wonder how quickly another version will emerge. Seem you would have to run them fairly constantly to avoid it burning deep holes in your pocket from consumables use in cleaning cycles. Talking to csl was a different experience to talking with Roland i found both informative with csl coming across as more on the customers level. Just thought I'd share my experience on these from the show this past week.

UV printers are like laser cutters..... high purchase price means that you have to run them near 24/7 to stand a chance to make any money. Both are slow with the big boys with larger more powerful faster machines taking the cream to leave people with entry level slow machines to pick up the dross. Is it worth the effort..... me thinks not at these prices.

Yes I know, old thread! Just wondering if anyone (Andrew? Simon?) Took the UV plunge or are still looking?
I'm still on the fence myself but interested in looking at this further this year I think.

Re: UV LED Printing Machines
Hi Justin
I am currently in talks with a new machine supplier about one. Their distributors here do not have one set up and have no idea about printing so we are talking about potential customers being allowed to visit my premises to sample products etc.
Can't say too much else yet but still looking at these.
What I will say is that Grantham's seem to have them pop up secondhand quite regularly, particularly the Mimaki. That does have concerns for me.

Re: UV LED Printing Machines
I was about to take the plunge on a larger Mimaki. Had my eye on a 2 year old machine like Simon mentions in the second hand market. So much has happened over the Xmas period I have lost the info currently but it was a 2.5m version but worked out well on price compared to the lesser sizing new (or even used sometimes). Still talking well over 20k plus though but I have plenty of work for it. Problem I have is the worry of just having one in case it goes down. If the A2 beds were more realistically priced I would have preferred running 2 that way. I am looking at daily workloads so a back-up would have to be looked into quickly.
Would have liked Sign & Digital to come around earlier to have another look but it is largely the same stuff as last year. Plan has been for start of 2018 to move forward and suddenly we are here.

Re: UV LED Printing Machines
There are often better deals about unfortunately with some other decent suppliers. I'd love Xpres to be up there with the best deals about but never seems to happen. When spending tens of thousands most buyers will be prepared to do the leg work to get the balance of backing which I know Xpres have but also the best deal possible. I have one of your sales people calling in next week as they are in the area so might mention it but don't hold out much hope of finding the better deals with you guys.Ricky@Xpres;129006 wrote:We have both the Mimaki 3042Mkii and the Roland LEF200 setup in our showroom. Hello Andrew
Thanks for the feedback.
Whenever we quote on new equipment we always include delivery and on-site installation and training plus ongoing technical support for the life of your purchase. We also have the largest showroom in the industry and encourage our customers to visit us prior to any purchase to fully test their application before investing tens of thousands. So from day one we are confident that you will be up and running and your investment is making you money. This obviously comes at a cost to us but in my experience we are never that far out on pricing.
I am one of the systems specialist here at Xpres if you would like any up to date pricing on equipment please drop me an email ricky.nunn@xpres.co.uk
