I don't tend to login to browse the DSF so don't know when I get pm's, sorry. I must change the email address associated with the DSF then I'd be notified, so sorry for the silence. If the office have advised that our suppliers can't source these anyone then sorry but that will be the case. I've just checked their website tonight and they still list it, but 0 in stock and usually with products like this when we've ordered them in the past it's normally about a week to get them. The BY1020 is also showing on their website but also 0 in stock! I'll check pm's now😉

Thank you BMS for the latest pm, which, as I feared, confirms the non availability of the various bypass trays that I'm interested in.
Quote Suppliers have confirmed they can't get these even though they are listed. Likewise the BY1020 is listed but are not available anymore from Ricoh. Unquote.

I assume from this that Ricoh is listing them, but the supply chain can't get them.
Crazy, or what ?

I've also had an email from the company that supplied me with my 3000, years ago, saying they can supply a BY1010, so I've just sent a confirmatory order to them.
Anyone care to lay money on what the result might be ?

John

Surprise, surprise - " We can supply the 1010 in 7 days from receiving the order". Asked for an ETA - "oops, it's no longer available".
However, there is GOOD news. The 1000 is available, so I've ordered one.
Looking at the back of my 3000, I've convinced myself that both of them will have the same construction, one just being 87mm narrower.
So I expect you can guess the rest....!

I shall start a new thread later on my progress in either modding the 1000, or building a dummy 1010.
However, cash is still available for a 2nd hand 1010 in whatever condition.

Latest update from the firm that were convinced they could supply me with at least the BY1000 bypass "our suppliers tell us they're not available any more".
Well, well, there's a surprise.
Getting to look like only a miraculous appearance of a second hand one, or I hack my own.

I wonder why they promise a delivery when they only lose face and a possible future customer ? No point in going back there again.
Getting to be very cynical of the whole business.

An update on my quest for a bypass tray.

I have just acquired a job lot of GX7000's !!
Described as 'spares or repairs', my first task will be to see if any of them work.
However, those that don't will become powered feeds for the 'Greybeard Alternative Feed Accessory' , or GAFA.
This will be an attempt to create the beast that I envisioned in post #23.
Wish me luck. I will start another thread to cover the hack when it starts to look promising.
