Hi Martin - do you have the Epson printer and ink available on your website to view please?
We have the printers and ink systems described on our website at:
http://www.printerowners.co.uk/sublimat ... inters.htm
so if i buy the bw40 ( think thats what its called ) via epson. Do i then just buy the easy flow system from BMS (martin) and what do i have to do to install the easy flow system and is that all i need to do , then buy the ink to refill it from the same place?
You can buy them separately and then buy the Easyflow system separately as well (just to balance the thread - there are other suppliers of the EasyFlow system besides us). They come with instructions in a colour booklet on how to fit and support is available from the supplier by phone in case of problems. You can buy the ink as well from the same supplier of the EasyFlow systems. Most suppliers sell the printers and the EasyFlow systems as packages saving you having to buy from separate places. We do have all this in stock.

You'll get support...
The official warranty is invalidated as soon as you put any non-genuine ink inside the printer. If the printer fails from coming straight out of the box then any supplier is obliged to replace it. After a couple of weeks the manufacturer's warranty kicks in and this is 12 months from Epson from date of purchase. If the printer develops a fault (as opposed to the ink system) then Epson will cover the warranty but only if you've only used genuine Epson inks in the printer (hence a good idea never to discard the genuine cartridges that come with the printer should this be necessary).
The printer has been tested by Sawgrass and therefore has been tried and tested. Any Epson printer can clog which isn't down to the printer, but the inks and how often it is/ is not used.
The warranty from us is no different to the warranty from any other company - Epson have support centres throughout the UK.

This might be a dumb question then - but is there an alternative to Sawgrass for sub inks? Or do manufacturers offer their own?

Sawgrass own the rights to small format sublimation inks in the UK (Have I said that right?) Cheaper sublimation inks are available but are not licensed for use in smaller printers, i.e. The Epsons/Ricohs we discuss on here. As such these inks aren't supported and you'd have to get your own icc profile made.
Many have tried and some still use these other inks with a certain level of success but remember that the supplier SHOULD NOT be selling them for small format use.
If you move across to large format sublimation printing it opens up a whole new world of cheaper subli inks as these aren't Sawgrass licensed.
Stick to Sawgrass, get the right icc profiles with the inks, get the ongoing support. It's a big investment initially but break down the cost per print (well, as close as you can) and you'll have plenty of room for profit.
