I guess we will just have to wait and see if one of the other bigger manufacturers decide to challenge it.

I doubt they will, as if it actually is challenged, and their patent found to be not what they say it is, then the bottom will fall out the market, and the other ink manufacturers will also make less money. Which seems to be the reason that all previous challenges have been settled out of court.
