Looks like I have a lot of reading up to do. I understand my local trading standards office getting involved when The FA raise the issue of the FA cup and Wembley. With regards to the flimsy Keep calm claim, would trading standards pursue this or would the owner of the so called EU copyright have to make a complaint. She was quite adamant that this design needed moving from my website. I didnt want to sound confrontational but i was thinking "or what?"

The only one you would need to move is the Keep Calm white lettering on red background. As said though this is a mute point when the guy who has trademarked it STOLE it, yes he did and he cannot trade mark something he does not own, the goverment does! Of course again as I have said if you are crossing any other copyright lines yes they can expect you to remove them as well. But if it is just KC then, I just told them that they are in the wrong and to check the law themselves. That was over two years ago, and they have not come back to me since!

They may of trade marked the keep Calm slogan but they couldn't trade mark the crown as that is crown copyright protected

Sadly a lot of place names, because the are also football team names are falling fowl of the copyright laws, and you run into trouble if you use them!

True - Last year I had a canvas with the words "Newcastle United" printed on it for sale on eBay. I received an email from the clubs solicitor to "cease and desist", and they also demanded I sent them a cheque immediately for £495!!

The outcome was that the slimey trademark owner won his case. It's an EU trademark and he was also trying to gain a US trademark.

Now where can I steal a slogan and then go to the EU and copyright it, hum!
Seriously he only has it on the White letters on the Red background, so anything else he cannot touch.
Interestingly it goes to prove that the EU are idiots as well, how can they allow it when it has been in the public doomain for so long and it was proved he bought a copy from Barter Books in the first place! The EU meddling in the UK law again!
I have Keep Calm and Carry on mugs etc but in different colours to the white on red, it will be interesting to see if Trading Standards try and stop me selling them!

Which pantone red was trademarked eh

Which typeface was used? I haven't looked at his trademark, but I'm voting UKIP to stop this carry on.

Not sure which pantone red it is, you will have to check with the trademark people, but it is the Keep Calm font/typeface, which is a font in its own right now.
