Ebay make a fortune out of their sellers. Do you really think they are going to let it drop off? No chance imo. Things will settle quick enough but you will always get the odd a**ehole on ebay regardless of rules.

Things like Managed returns will see companies competing to offer this service to ebay sellers. I am happy with more hoops as long as it is a level playing field with other sellers. They might back the very largest a bit more but the regular sellers have all got to make the same effort. Many won't bother but the same people are looking to buy. It might actually encourage me to do more on ebay as I have only ever had a play with things before.

I've been looking into this for a while now - think it could be beneficial as Andrew said above, maybe it will get rid of a few who abuse the system. The more I read, the more confused I'm getting though - it says some categories, but doesn't list them - also, not sure if its covers personalised items.

Collect +( £4 something )is the only one they offer at the moment and are in talks with royal mail to use them from august (havn't announced prices yet) but all will be tracked prices.

So it will collect+ and royal mail.

when asked what about things that are sent letter and large letter, and that tracked and collect + would be an expensive way to return, they said we could let the buyers keep the item!

When ebay bring this in it will hit a LOT of businesses hard.

The problem being that you will not be able to choose which service your buyer uses to return items, ebay will choose for you. Currently ebay has no contract with Royal Mail but are attempting to gain one BUT they do say the cheapest return will be approx £2.50.
It all sounds good on the front end but you WILL see an increase of buyers claiming "Item Not As Described" which YOU will pay the return postage on, so whereas now if a buyer changes his/her mind and wants to return, they pay postage, in future these guys/gals will think twice, save money, report as item not described to save money. You will have the chance to object and fight with ebay to get the money back if you can convince customer support the item was as described. The other part is that naturally as the item was not as described your ratings will drop.
America is a good place to look for upcomming events to ebay UK and currently lots of businesses selling items for less than $20 are quitting.
