Yeah, to echo the comments above, choose your favourite mug style and get the mug press to suit. The only quandary I have is deciding whether to stock delicate smaller mugs or big chunky larger mugs. Some people prefer big mugs, but I don't like them! I asked the girl in Cath Kidston which mugs sell better and she said the large ones, it's not what I want to hear.

When we started, we did do a range of mug styles, and did find that standard chunky 10oz Durham mugs were the strongest seller

Good Morning,
I usually see that the standard mug with an 80mm diameter and 10oz capacity as the best selling size, this is not too limiting either as there are a variety of coloured mugs, mugs with accents and plain mugs of the same size that will use the same standard element. Additionally there are bottles and thermos flasks that can be placed inside a standard Adkins mug press again using the same element to heat them. This shows that a standard 80mm mug element can do an awful lot, if you have a mug press you can swap the elements in however you can really do a lot on a low equipment budget showing that you are not really limited as long as you get a versatile mug press.
Good luck finding the right fit for you! There is a lot of choice out there
