Here's another image which might help - the cylinder is mounted this way up at the moment so I can install what I need to into the top.. lots of welding to be done as this needs to be strong.

If you weld the "jack" into the bottom(top) , then use that to compress something into the mould in the bottom when its turned over? Or does the jack have a blade attached so it can cut something?
