Edit : I started writing this "essay" before seeing Martin's post above and would not disagree with anything he says - well only slightly as you will see if you can be bothered to read all my waffle!
There are two different styles of shirt for sublimation printing.
Subli-Soft and Xpres shirts (different brands) are basically a cotton shirt with a polyester "face" woven onto them for dye-sub printing (there are also a couple of other lesser brands of this type). This inherently means that they are a fairly thick heavy fabric (about 260-270 gsm), and after extensive conversations with our customers we have discontinued offering the unisex adult sizes of these, but continue to offer the kids sizes because many parents like the fact that the shirts have a natural fabric against the childs skin (the same argument applies even more strongly to babygrows). Having tested both we believe that Sublisoft are the better brand so we continue to offer them in the 4 childrens sizes (and also in white ladies tees where we find that their less see-through appearance finds favour with many of our customers). In our opinion they are less likly to "pill" when washed and the quality of print is slightly better than on the Xpres, but I know many people prefer the Xpres shirts, not least because they are a fair bit cheaper, so particularly for shirts which will only be worn once or twice (stag/hen nights, exhibition stands, etc they may provide better value
Vapor are a 100% spun polyester microfibre wickable fabric, which means they are a lighter weight (about 190 gsm) and in most people's opinion a very much more comfortable shirt to wear. They are, of course, also available in a good range of adult styles and colours rather than the "any colour as long as it's white" of the other brands, and are also available in grey in kids sizes which many parents find a more practical colour for kid's shirts, and which many schools/playgroups like. Again having offered these in adult sizes against the other brands at comparative prices we (and our customers) found that they outsold the others by such a margin that it was no longer viable for us to offer other brands in adult sizes. I would also mention that many people who haven't used coloured sublimation shirts assume that you need to "fiddle" the colours to print on them - this is not the case - we have for example, samples of both yellow and flesh tones printed on blue shirts with excellent results.
