Ebay Dispute opened....
Re: Ebay Dispute opened....
as i have stated before - ebay dont give a dam about any small seller on there - there attitude is - if we lose sellers either by banning them, though low DSR's, or they just shut shop, there will ALWAYS be other NEW sellers coming into the market to fill the gaps - and to a point, thats true from a business view
but if the buyers go - in there eyes, thats would be more detrimental to ebay, thats why all(most) the rules favour very heavily towards the customer, where rights are concerned. Whether those rights/rules are proper in our eyes as sellers or not, ebay dont give a hoot !
ebay are really going to town this year regarding there new rules for various things, and again, i stated a while back, over on the officially ebay boards, most of the now "TRS" sellers, those with the little badge thing that gets them some discount, are saying "SOD IT" we dont care any more about your TRS discount or badge any more - its just NOT worth the hassle to keep it.
@laura - its only gonna get worse on there, and hats off to you and the likes of brett and others you sell a lot on there...trying times ahead indeed

Re: Ebay Dispute opened....
The biggest 'selling point' for businesses on eBay is purely volume of foot traffic. From a sellers perspective it has nothing else much going for it. Ever more punitive rules, increasing fees and the fact that eBay have lost touch with the fact that it is the traders that actually provide them with their income.
There are alternatives such as Etsy, but when you look at sellers feedbacks on those sites, the sales numbers are substantially less than on eBay. Having your own site has limited potential, unless you have a really niche product that Google will put you on the first couple of pages of search results.

i agree , ebay is very good at getting you found but it is almost like the mafia youa getta badda feedback wea knocka youra search rankings (ok bad italian accent) and its only gonna get worse with the bnew regs comming in in the autumn can you send out your items next day ? if you can then you either have a huge work force or very few orders but unless you can meet such criteria and other stupid regs yopu will not get trs status. Thats not important you might think well i can tell you it blummin is we lost ours over the xmas period due to customers marking us down on dispatch times i hasten to add all our items left us in the stated dispatch time but this makes little differance to ebay the customer is always right. As a conciquence we have seen at least a 60% drop in sales since xmas from ebayNew Horizons;70940 wrote:The biggest 'selling point' for businesses on eBay is purely volume of foot traffic. I know about the new plans for June regarding amongst other things the need for pictures with blank backgrounds, ideally photographs of real productspurpledragon;70949 wrote: its only gonna get worse with the bnew regs comming in in the autumn can you send out your items next day ? if you can then you either have a huge work force or very few orders but unless you can meet such criteria and other stupid regs yopu will not get trs status.

Changes for autumn are amongst other things, to kweep your trs status you will need to offer next day dispatch , next day delivery option and a load of other crap i cant remember right now but those are the significant ones

as I and many others have said before - dont let the ******* get you down. View it as an advert. The cost of a Ebay shop is cheaper than a crappy ad in our local paper that covers about 20,000 houses. So it gives you a showcase. Try as hard as you can to convert as many from ebay sales to non ebay sales ( I get great satisfaction from that) Play them at their own game. And at the end of the day if you are paying big fees then you are selling things. As long as your margin is correct then you are still winning. If I gave up Ebay (Which I hate with a passion btw) I would be finished. 6 orders this week of reasonable size all came from Ebay enquiries. Did I do them through Ebay - didieckaslike.purpledragon;70959 wrote:Changes for autumn are amongst other things, to kweep your trs status you will need to offer next day dispatch , next day delivery option and a load of other crap i cant remember right now but those are the significant ones
Oh and for the record a customer marked our DSR for a product she was chuffed to bits with. Apologised about it. I got on to ebay to ask to remove it and they wouldnt. Wonkers

How do you direct people from ebay ?? ive tried using compliment slips in my orders with discount codes on and to this day i havnt had one used so they obviously arnt working i bandy my email address about in the hope that when customers see the @purpledragondesigns.co.uk they put 2 n 2 together but that doesnt seem to work either and anyway ebay have now banned email addresses in messages and are planning on doing the same on listings so unless a customer contacts me direct im not sure how you convert them from ebay customers to web site customersgstk;70961 wrote:as I and many others have said before - dont let the ******* get you down. ..................
not heard anything from CS on that one brett, or on the ebay forums about banning emails in listings
do know that the shop fees are going up from basic £14.99 - to £19.99+vat. and the others are up as well.
ebay also want you to give "free postage" to keep your TSR- oh come on - everyone and there granny knows there aint no such thing as free postage, its fired in with the price, hiking up the price of the product, that in turn gives ebay more profit from there FVF's...corporate ass's want more money to hire better tea boys
they are gonna lose a lot of sellers with all these new rules when they are all implemented, cause some will not/can not comply with them due to one reason or another, and others will just have had enough of all the stupid constant tinkering of the site and changes
