I don't like the 10 grand of stock bit...... why not offer to sell his services throu your existing shop on a commission basis.
If the other shop is local to yours, there is only so much biz in any area, and that means competing for the same customer with the same end supplier.
There is nothing to stop you approaching any trade embroiderer and operating the same service!

We all have the first impression it either a niggle or feeling of slight feeling discord when we meet people or are we are listening, its a natural instinct that we all have, you must have had them other wise you would not have posted. In this very stiff climate unless I was 90 percent sure that it could be done, then I would. I am at this moment thinking about investing more money into what I do, but I'm still thinking and looking at all options. But moving from my shop would not be a option I would consider, it was hard enough the first time to get established if someone wanted to come into my business with money and ideas then I might give it some considerations. So go with that very first impression you had of them and you won't be far wrong

Sounds like you become a franchise of his firm. You do all the work, he gets all the cash.

I'd avoid it personally. I understand your reticence but seriously he is on a win win situation.

I would explore it further as I am sure there are plenty of details still unkown. Explain your concerns and this should give an indictation of how easy the guy would be to work with. If you don't like it after you have gone through the smallest of details then carry on as you are.

It is hard to say either way whether it is a good deal as I am sure this is far more indepth than you have mentioned. Also, we don't know enough about the Dragon itself to know how much you are letting go. I am sure you will be able to work through it and you should get the feeling if it is right for you or not. Hope it all works out which ever way you jump.

Brett, it seems to me he would be on a win win situation & you could be the looser in this. It also seems it would be a good way to get rid of his competition at getting you on board with him. I wouldn't do it either........long live the dragon.

Agree with Ian . Plus , as others have said, the 10K you have to invest and you moving from your well established location. Youve work long and hard to get yourself know . Id think long and very hard before doing anything.

wow i know now why you say its turned you on your head, you were obviously taked to by a very very smooth operator, so ever ilogical thing he said was said in such away that you think the logical (sceptical) side is wrong. so you have thought, hmmmm, i really must think about this, and yet the more you think the more confused youhve become, and with little wonder. he gets to dislodge you from a place you have built up your business, rebrand you, and rent to you a business which you put the stock in.

Think youre right mrs M , in fairness theres a few details i havent added but saying that theres nothing which would make you say "ahhh well thats differnt then" it did worry me slightly regarding the extra competition but when all said and done i get very klittle business through the shop anyway the vast majority being from the internet and although this guy dabbles in a few mugs i think dabbles is probably the right word . I havnt hit the final nail in the coffin of this idea yet but its beginning to look like i probably will think i just needed to hear what i was thinking to be honest thanks for all the input guys
