I do mine right way up.. so I can grab however many there are in there at a time..

Heatproof gloves (after too catching a clamp lol) have been a lifesaver for opening clamps quicker than with anything else..

I have detected heat proof gloves are essential.

Thanks for the tip about the extension ring. Never thought to use that. I also use a thermometer @ 200°c. Maybe my browning was because they were over cooked? Mine stayed in for 20 mins. Too long??.

Everything I have read says 12-17 mins (big range!) so 20 mins appears a lot, but then I haven't used an oven (yet), so over to the other folks for a comment on that one.

I use 17 minutes for one mug.. only would use 20 minutes when I have 3 in at a time..

I used to get browning on my mugs sometimes even in those times.. but now that I use the extension ring the element is further away from the mugs.. and I haven't had browning on my mugs since.. (touch wood, fingers crossed, whilst holding a rabbits foot and all that because you know that because I have said that it will happen!!)

That's interesting as I have seen it mentioned before that you need more time for more items as they draw the heat. So your experience backs that up.

17 minutes for me too, regardless of how many mugs I am doing. I do however preheat my clamps, and if I'm doing less than 4 mugs I leave the other (hot) clamps in the oven anyway to try to keep conditions as similar as possible every time.

Keeping the clamps hot, another point that makes sense, saves the wrap from having to come back up to temperature.

This is interesting as my time varies so much from you guys, I always preheat wraps, use an extension ring and the oven glove are a 'must' janners you can whip them all in and out in no time. But since printing with my Ricoh i'm actually only cooking for 9 mins on 190 any more and my black go brown.
