Sorry, just noticed you posting, so I thought I'd say hi.
We currently print/produce products for a few artists, some of whom do license to big companies too. They tend to use us to produce small runs for their own direct to public selling to supplement their licensing deals income. They want to spend their time designing, drawing, painting, not being bogged down in printing, pressing, putting canvasses together etc. Are you sure you want to go down the in-house production route yourself?
For getting into the licensing game, their is a big trade show, in October I think at Earls Court, that you'd be wise to visit next year along with examples of your designs, and talk to as many people as you can, and then maybe the next year, you should get your own stand at a trade show.
