Having both Cable and ADSL into the house I can without a doubt say that the cable is superior in every way. It is rock solid and fast! In last 10 years I think we have lost service only twice and that was when they were upgrading the speed. The ADSL is as buggy as hell, often disconnects or just plain refuses to connect and is so slowwww.

I am so P*ssed off, recently changed from Virgin to BT, thought nothing of it speed promised was the same prices about the same i just need a BT line for some work i do, (i use the clients code to call them/their customers and its billed directly to my client not available on anything other than BT)
I was so surprised when the BT man came and connected my internet to the phone line, i thought i had gone back 5 years - and yep it feels like it, slow, downloads that take forever. i have already had to up my internet useage, as apparently i was in danger of going over - if it was not for the client and the huge phone bills i can get through here, i would have stayed with Virgin.

Why not switch back but call your client using something like Skype Mrs M?

bt are total shaft merchants TBH....they have EVERYBODY by the short n curlys. esp where wholesale is concerned. and they know it.
the UK's phone lines are ancient compared to some other countries....we have an aging phone system that is in bad need of upgrading...which BT will not do....money cost alone run into millions.
