I agree it's not the postmen.. my neighbour is one and he said it shouldn't happen but it does..

Like you say, saves them sending out a van.. but doesn't help people who can't get to their local depot lol..

You have to be careful of this. If they decide that there's insufficient postage at the other end, they'll charge the excess postage PLUS a "handling fee". Your postage might only be 12p short, but they'll charge you something like £1.12 - the £1 being the "handling fee" for the 12p.

It's utterly ridiculous.

I'd like to use more couriers but it's getting difficult to find a reliable one. I used to use DHL@HOME service which never let me down, but they were bought out by Yodel, and Yodel is part of the HDNL. The last time I tried to send something via Yodel, they didn't bother to pick it up. Nor did they bother when I scheduled a second pick up. I had to take it to the Post Office - I paid something like £15 but it was delivered the next day.

Seems we have no alternative. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.
