With Dropbox, your files are also on your local machine as well so if Dropbox was to lose their copies, you still have yours.
For a couple of extra quid, you can have "PackRat" which keeps copies of previous copies/deleted files indefinitely (otherwise old versions and deleted files are removed after 30 days).
But if your files are on the local PC surely the backup is to Dropbox...if the backup fails you're relying on your local PC? What I mean is that it's the local PC you're backing up.
I know with SugarSync it keeps deleted files in the same way. 5Gb is free and packages seem pretty cheap.

You have your files online (Dropbox) and on any PCs you sync to. I use multiple PCs. Dropbox is primarily a sync tool but it works as an off-site backup as well. I'm not sure what else you'd need it to do?
I also have 50Gb Box.net (thanks to a free promotion) which I use for most of my music/audio collection. And I have essential files on a PAYG cloud.
I see Livedrive are doing unlimited backup storage for £4.95 per month. I looked at the free trial and when it goes through they offer you discounts to sign up for longer periods. £3.33 per month if you sign up for a year etc. Seems like a good deal.
I'm having a go with the free trial. It may work out cheaper than SugarSync but I'm looking at the options.
edit: Having tried Livedrive today it appeared very good. However, having read numerous reviews (not all bad) I've decided to remove it due to serious security concerns amongst other things. Will be trying out other services now.
I know you'll always get a mixed bag of reviews but when so many repeat the same concerns it's hard to overlook
@Justin PC World's KNOWHOW cloud storage uses Livedrive and costs £30 for 12 months up to 500Gb - sometimes they have it on sale or offer it with another purchase at a reduced cost. When I looked into online services I am sure Carbonite came out the best overall service.

Livedrive was the cheapest by farm, unlimited storage for £3 or £4 per month, a lot of other companies seem to use them but I started reading reviews and some were horific. I guess there's always 2 sides to a story! Maybe I should try them myself over a longer period.
SugarSync stil my favourite , prices aren't too bad.
I do like Dropbox and as I mentioned, I already have an account specifically for one customer. My only problem with this is I'm not sure where to put a directory that this customer can't see/access?

I use Shared Folders for this. Only the folder is shared, so they can't access any other folder.
