Dye sublimation ink is different from dye ink. Ordinary dye ink will not work.

I gave the link for the empty CIS unit, forget the filled ones, no good for sublimation

Forget everything about dye/pigment etc. dye sub ink is different.

Take a closer look at the Artainium inks on some of our supplier sites, BMS, Listawood etc. but don't rule out buying a complete system as this may be a viable option and you'd get the all important support.

If you were to use your wide format 9800 printer, then you ink cost could be significantly lower then using the smaller printers. This is because the larger printers are eligible to use wide format inks, which come in litre bottles for not much more money than you pay for the little 125ml bottles of ink for the smaller printers.

As previously mentioned, it depends on the size of prints you are needing to sublimate, and quantity as to whether converting the 9800 would be a wise move (though if it's currently sitting around idle...) Technically there is nothing stopping you buying the lower cost wide format inks and using them in a small printer, but it is not something encouraged by many on this forum, although it does happen.

ICC wise, you will get best results getting these made for which ever printer and inks you decide on using in the end. Paul on the forum here can do this for you, and has good rates for his excellent service.

Thanks for the input Pisquee, but it's more than probable that the R285 will get used as it is the printer that's sitting idle as I've a tendency to run everything through the 9800, The R285 was basically purchased three years ago for printing Cds/DVDs and as it may have been used for that purpose once a month I thought with the idea of expanding revenue avenues I would put the R285 to work although I do appreciate the saving that would be made on the ink. There are several other things that I need to check out as to printing on black t-shirts or dark colours as to whether the transfer paper that has been suggested earlier is a good all rounder. If you or any of the others have input on that subject, it would be much appreciated.

Does anyone happen to know anything about this type/brand/price of heat press, and if it is a worth looking further at.

By the look of the manual button type control panel these are the entry level Chinese presses. Don't know about the press itself, but the control units are good giveaways of the origins.
