One good tip for cleaning the inside of mugs is to sprinkle baking soda on a damp cloth and then gently rub the inside of the mug. Works a treat.

I found this out a few weeks back when noticed my personal mug getting really bad and not having dishwasher looked for an alternative.

But, can we really tell our customers, or label the mugs as being
"best washed in a dishwasher, and if you don't have a dishwasher you need to scrub them with baking soda as normal washing up liquid doesn't work."

We don't wash our mugs in the office in a dishwasher and apart from one mug (which is used for endless cups of tea every day and NEVER gets washed - only rinsed) all the other mugs are clean inside after being used and one of these is dated Dec 2006!

I use the BMS Europeans and have a few of the mugs that I have made mistakes on, or haven't come out quite right.. and have been using them daily for a couple of months with no issues.. I don't own a dishwasher other than my own hands and my mugs are as perfect on the inside as they are on the outside.. even after daily use (I drink A LOT) of coffee.. and only being handwashed..

We're in a hardwater area too.. so not sure if that's something..

OK, I feel a bit reassured now, maybe it was very old stock we had gotten before finding BMS (and this forum) which could be the case as I think it's a while since we gave any mugs to friends as presents. So, hopefully we are OK, and apologies to BMS if this is the case.
