I use brown tape from day one. i was tempted to buy green one as is longer and may last for longer but after reading a lot about green one can leave green shade on the mug i decided to stick to my brown one

heat tape lol wots that
i use masking tape cut into small bits - dont leave a mark on the cup as i place it where white edge is on the cup

I think the coloured tapes are polyester which maxes out at 204°C, so if your temperature is anywhere near that then you're left with residue. The brownish tapes are, I think, polyamide which resists heat up to about 269°C - much more suited to our uses because that's well above subbing temperature.Justin;37493 wrote:Yes the green tape can leave a little residue even on normal mugs, I switched to Coralgraph tape a long while back and find it far better.
