my cutter has both, usb and serial connection. I use serial as its working faster (!) for me and no hassle

those chinese cutters got funny drivers for usb. some work and some not

Well my main pc didnt have a serial port initially, until I bought a card from Priceless in Glasgow and it's been a dream since then. If it wasnt for the fact that I've bought a smaller cutter I would still use it.
It even survived the great "Windows 7" install debacle last year which meant I had to scrap a fair bit of kit including 2 webcams and a few bits of legacy software.
