LOL. Just goes to show, until you use a company you just don't know. Even then, some folk have great experiences, others very poor.

I've just been reading some of the complaints on the other site and it seems that several people were conned into signing up with them after reading a review site putting them "top" in everything.

Looks to me that they're only at the top of the list because they're cheap.

thetop10bestwebhosting.com claim that they have websites hosted a 100 of the internet's "largest web hosts" to test them out yet, when you look at nbonlinemarketing.com (NB Online Marketing is who they say they are) there's nothing there but the equivalent of a holding page. So what websites do they have hosted with these 100 "largest web hosts"? Sounds almost like a shill.

Even cheaper if you can find the 'secret link' on the front page, which isn't hard. When you sign up they start to throw the optional extras at you and keep piling them on.
When I went through the cancelation procedure I was offered another years hosting free along with several other add-ons, a total package of £240.
For me this would make no difference (although i paused tho think!) if the service is this poor as a new user then what hope would we have in the future!?

Overall I get on well with 1and1. I've rung them a few times today and they try their best to be helpful, there's a wee language barrier though :-)
I find there admin interface works well, Just Host panel was huge and seemed geared towards upgrade...upgrades, wll the while.

My web site is www.plymouthmilitarygifts.co.uk just so you can see and maybe that makes a difference to the web hosting that I need.

Like many e-commerce websites, yours looks like it's based on a derivative of osCommerce (the copyright in one of the stylesheet indicates this). Therefore, it should work on any web-host that offers both PHP and MySQL.

You'll need to check if you're using additional functions that may or may not be enabled with your new host. Just ask your new host (whoever you decide to go with) if they support whatever e-commerce package you're using and you should be good to go.

If you're using SSL, make sure you can transfer this to your new host. If you're using shared-SSL you'll need to check the new host offers the same and then do some tweaking.

Thanks for that, I'm hoping that who ever takes it over will do all of that, We have'nt got a clue I did the design for it and my husband picked the way it wanted it laid but neither one of us has a clue how the backend runs. We would like a better and faster web site keeping the layout and design but not know anything webs we are not sure what we need to ask for, the best thing we can say we need a very good upgrade but whats its called maybe someone could point us in the right direction

I have a few websites hosted with www.pickaweb.co.uk They certainly provide PHP and MYSQL and I have found their support people to be very helpful and responsive even when the issue is self inflicted
