Re: Advice on bulk orders

I found the thread - it was approx £2.20 per mug...

http://www.dyesubforum.co.uk/vbforum/sh ... 06-Pricing....

Thats hy I was thinking £3 isnt a lot of profit, and for an order this size quite early on, Im sure there will be a bit of wastage... Just my thoughts though!

my personal thought would be £2.50 per mug on this first order.... meaning £60 after taking overheads out....? which will able me to buy more mugs and a pint or 2 :0)

If you customer were to check out the online promo companies they wouldn't be able to get them for less than £3 + vat so don't think ypu have to go as low as £2.50

£2.20 per mug - it no wonder people running businesses these days haven't got a chance at surviving if your going to churn out jobs for £2 bloody 50p per mug.

What happens 6 months down the line when you need to replace the blanket on the heat press or your printer gives up the ghost etc. You won't have the funds to replace anything.

You are totally devalueing the trade and your services.

I think you have under-estimated the costs personally..... I think the real cost is bet £2-£2.50 per mug, depending how exact you want to be... from memory, I think the mugs from bms work out around £1.13 each for the smaller quantities... plus ink, paper etc...

without getting you too angry John - I think at this very early stage in my business I am happy at anything I can get.. I am hoping this little job will start the word of mouth going... and get my name bounced about...

I am not planning on this type of price forever but just to get the experience and "the ball rolling"

As mentioned I am doing this part time at the moment to see If it is something I can really push and make a business out of it... I work full time and have my son 2 days a week... So at the moment I have about 1 day a week to run this....

I do agree that there are other things to include in your pricing, although I would quite put it lilke John :-|

Im in the same boat as you know Anthony, and reducing price is VERY tempting to get the ball rolling....but what happens if you sell 50, they love them and then want a further 100 - at the same cost....or they phone a friend and promise them the same deal etc etc....you would then sell loads of mugs which is greaaaat, but you would be doing yourself out of well earned profit....... again just my thoughts!

In fact, sod it - sell em for a quid! hehehehehehe!
